According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), “A severe thunderstorm activity, brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon, has triggered the formation of a tornado in Manila last Sunday,”
“What we witnessed was not a full-blown tornado but a mid-level one, which is not that strong. Tornadoes originate over a flat surface, and in this case the tornado developed over Manila Bay. It moved over land where it encountered rugged terrain and barriers, such as concrete structures, which then shattered the tornado,” PAG-ASA Weather Forcaster said.
In a video uploaded by Netizen Karen Daphne Madrigal, it shows a funnel-shaped cloud spinning across Binondo.

The twister, according to the residents of Baseco compound, started at the sea and hit first Block 1 Gasangan that lasted for at least fifteen minutes.
After the widespread damage, Mayor Joseph Estrada has met the residents and assured them with assistance.
